What is this instrument?

"T.N.T." is, like, my favourite AC/DC song. Way better than the pop songs they play on the radio now. I'm sure there's still good music out there, but why is all of the crap limelighted and played everywhere?

Anyways, go to the link and listen to the song very closely at the 2:27 mark, just as the guitar solo is ending. There's a weird instrument that sounds like bubbling water or something. I was very intrigued about this, but I can't find anything yet.

Were you guys curious about this as well?

Seriously

You know that sound when they scrape a plectrum along the strings?
This is it, only done very slowly

Isn't that the whammy / tremolo bar effect you're hearing?...

EDIT:

No, I hear what he means now. It sounds a bit like two shells clapping together very gently.

Sounds a bit woody even.

Maybe a fixed high note on a xylophone without vibration?...

Or the soft clap of a pair of castanets?...

Or a woodblock?...

It's the guitar. On that last note the guy is doing a finger vibrato where a finger on the left hand frets the note and then wiggles the string up and down. This adds sustain to the note and sounds cool, but eventually the musical tone from the note runs out and the pickup on the guitar will mostly just get the scrapping sound of the guitar string physically scrapping against the metal fret on the guitar neck while the guy is still doing the up/down left hand finger vibrato but there is no more musical tone to sustain.

It's for sure a guitar.

It's guitar, and he's doing vibrato (bending the string up and down)
