Website downtime - what happened?

Post by mstar »

Hey all,

i guess most noticed that the site had a prolonged downtime, during which a SQL error was displayed:

(okok, this is a screenshot i've taken when it was last offline 2 weeks ago, the message was the same tho)

So, since i've seen messages about this in the on-site chat as well - i suppose not only a few wonder what has happened?

googling that error give in return a lot of results, sadly seems quite common, using php

maybe some technician here around can help @Impulse to get rid of this annoying issue?

The issue started after the site was moved to a new server a couple weeks ago. Impulse has been having a hard time figuring out what the issue is but he's monitoring it. Hopefully he'll have it figured out soon.

Sorry guys I don't know what's causing it yet. If you see the sql error try refreshing and or clearing browser cache. I'm trying to keep an eye on it and rebooting the server when needed.

I switched from a server that wasn't really affordable in the long run to a more affordable server. Same specs so I don't understand why sql is crashing. It's frustrating to have this undiagnosed problem. Definitely annoying that it keeps crashing. I know it's upsetting.

I'm just an amateur server admin sadly. If I can't fix it within the next week then I'll move back to the old server.
