What Did You Get Your Dreamcast Recently?

I remember those McDonalds figures ! Way back when, and FREE ! for the price of a few nuggets and fries lol

I always wanted the fishing rod but am unsure which one to get as I heard not all of them have all the functions inbuilt. Is that right ? Should I go for the official one or third party models ?

I have never tried any third party ones but I never had any issues with my official fishing controller. There was a store on ebay last summer that had a ton of them. You got 2 official controllers brand new in the box and 2 fishing games for $25 plus shipping. I am not sure if they still have them for that but I couldn't imaging they were flying out the door too quick.

so does no one else come from the school of thinking that the official Dreamcast controllers were very cack and that the only way forward was the see through Mad Catz controllers? Or am I the only one. Mind you I did suffer from MASSIVE HAND SYNDROME when I got it, and still do to this day, so I just found the official ones uncomfortable at best. So I have about 8 Mad Catz controllers laying around in case any ever die. I buy brand new sealed ones every now and again too

nope, I always loved the original dc controller, its my second fav controller ever made (being only bested by the n64 pad)

why does everyone say that? I HATED The N64 pad!! I mean fair enough if you like then cool, not bashing at you, but I tried it on the "legendary" goldeneye and just ABSOLUTELY loathed it!! What was all that about holding the bit in the middle and shit?? give me a dual stick 360 or dc controller over that any day

It's not my all time favorite but I do hold a special place in my heart for the DC controller. The triggers for gas and brake on TXR blew my mind!

Everyone seems to either love or hate the N64 pad. Even though I spent way too many hours playing goldeneye and wrestling I don't really care either way for it. I guess I do hold a slight grudge against them for being total pieces of crap once the thumbstick got worn out which took maybe a year max at my house.

I do like the DC controllers when they're new but when the thumstick wears out they can be a pain in the butt. Those stick on pads for the thumstick that someone mentioned on here are a must have buy on old controllers especially. The Madcatz controller is great when using the analogue ie racing games but not so great with the D-Pad. You're right about the 'Big Hand Syndrome' lol

see thats the thing that you just couldn't beat about the Dreamcast controller, the thumbstick. I've NEVER used another stick as accurate or sensitive to movement. A good example of comparisson is playing PSO ver 2 on Dreamcast and then comparing the movement to PSO ep 1 + 2 on original xbox. the original xbox just never matched the pin point accuracy of the response from the Dreamcast version and it actually ruined playing that port for me.

Anyway I just didn't like how narrow the original DC controller was, I prefer a wider one so I have room behind it for my gigantor fingers lol
