Dreamcast -> VGA box -> VGA male connection - cable - hdmi male connection -> new tv
Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm fairly certain that won't work. HDMI is digital and VGA is analog. It needs something in between to convert the signal. That's the whole reason for the "box".

Yeah, that definitely won't work. People ask me this all the time on my channel.

That's simply a passthrough adapter. It won't convert the signal.

People have the hardest time accepting that to do this correctly it will cost you money. There is no super cheap perfect option. It doesn't exist.

I've thrown a lot of money at this stuff to test various options, and the single best one I've ever found is the VGA to HDMI adapter by Atlona.

The second best (I have not done a video of it) is the VGA to Component Adapter by Atlona.

Atlona is the only company who makes video converter boxes that actually do the thing they're supposed to.

for those who purchase latest TVs (w/o VGA input), check the accessories.

sometimes a genuine VGA adapter (that plugs into a specific "all-in-one" TV socket) is available, as this one for instance (intended for some Samsung models)
