Why Did Boxes Change From Black To White?

I was just wondering this. Does anybody know why the earlier Dreamcast releases are white while the later releases are black? I do prefer the black boxes. But I thought that was an interesting question

I don't think there was any particular official word from Sega on why they changed, but I think the typical fan assumption is that they changed the design to better compete with the PS2 hypemachine which at the time was emphasizing a mature and sophisticated look for the PS2 and PS2 related products which emphasized the color black.
