Coe Breaker and disc Lens

Hi, just yesterday i bought a used PAL Dreamcast in a very good condition

I also bought the Sakura Wars Complete Box Collection for the Dreamcast

Well in order to play imported games I know that you have to use a boot disk adn code breaker worked like a charm xD

Now my question is does anyone if the constant disc swapping will eventually wear off the lens of the DC?

Or maybe it doesn't matter at all?I don't know

I'm new to the whole dreamcast scene and so far i love it.
Dreamcast had so many hidden gems it's shame so many people don't know about them and can't play them :/

It won't make any difference for the laser. And as long as the motor stops between swapping discs it shouldn't make any difference for that either. Swapping discs whilst the motor is spinning would add extra strain though, since I don't think the DC uses a brushless motor. Otherwise it wouldn't be so loud - unless I'm mistaken and that sound comes only from the parts that move the laser assembly. But since you don't have to swap spinning discs that's of no concern here. Swap away I'd say... ^^

You do not have much to worry about as far as laser wear goes. Though, there is natural wear from usage and old age. But there is not much you can do to prevent this other than possibly preventive maintenance which I have no knowledge of. This is not for your question specifically, but here are some good reads on the subject

Completely unrelated, but what would an interesting area of research for someone to do would be a noiseless GD-drive mod
