Gday,
This is to any people with the technological know-how, is it possible to get the Q3 master server, that the game automatically searches for, back online?
We all know a few games have been brought back online and some are in the pipeline, but with Q3 already playable online is it possible to get back the ability to automatically scan the main list? I know DC Talk has its own list, but i think we need something a bit broader that could possibly bring it all together, and i think the built-in original server is the way to go.
Possible?

I don't really know. It doesn't hurt to ask Raster or Bethesda about that. What would probably make better work of it is a DNS server to circumvent this issue without going into the whole IP port forwarding thingy.

Re: Master server revival?
I don't think this will be possible since the dns for the default master server that is hard coded into Q3 is controlled by id software/Bethesda/however. And they shut down their master server. That's why we had to make our own. So we have actually revived it

Re: Master server revival?
For Dreamcast servers in general it's somewhat surprising that you do not see the developers/publishers put some servers back up. I understand in 2000-2004 it was not worth the money but as time passes the resources to run the server would be almost nothing
Maybe there is legal stuff and likely the same addresses could not be used anymore, making it a hassle to change to another DNS for each game

Re: Master server revival?
Well, I finally got the Dreamcast-talk Master list to work using their DNS server, would be nice to see some people on there, I'm sat in a map all alone pity it's probably not possible to get the real master list back, unite the players, so to speak.
