Japanese Dreamcast in PAL region line voltage - Dreampi

Post by spinksy »

A friend has a Japanese Dreamcast and modem in UK - he has asked me what voltage he will need on a Dreampi set up - my instinct is saying he will still need 18v due to the actual region?

Or will he need 9v due to it being an NTSC-J console?

Help appreciated
Dreamcast, it's still thinking.

This is brain-melting but you need it at 18v. I cannot understand why.

I do know 18v works for everyone it's not too much for NTSC

All that matters is the Dreamcast modem. If it's a Japanese modem then you only need 9v. I've known people that swapped out their PAL modem for a Japanese one so that they could use 9v.

in 1999, all modems worked fine on a 24 volt PBX, if you don’t know which modem you will use, then take a 19 volt LVI, it is compatible with any modem
