For games needing port forwarding this won't work at the same time, but for those without you can do this (e.g Quake 3)

The only time I had two DCs running online in the same house it was for quake 3. I let my nephew use them for a birth day party that he had. We had the Dreamcast in the living room running quake over dial up and another in my bedroom running quake 3 over a pc-dc server. Im pretty sire you could do this set up with all the games seeing how dial up would not need any of the ports forwarded though.

Hi

Yes by using pure dial-up and a dreampi/pc-dc
you will probably be able to have two dreamcasts working online. That is,
you will get two different public IP's.

But will not work behind one router and one ISP.

Scenario:
2 dreamcast behind the same router and you want to play say AFO online on both.
Both will connect to the AFO server fine (if the games picked two different source ports) (TCP session).

But if you want to join a game, the server will start sending game data to your
public IP and UDP Port 7980. Your router will only forward that traffic to one of the
Dreamcasts. The only way going around this is getting two public IP's.

When it works:
For Q3 you will establish a TCP session, usually with a ephemeral -source port, the router
will then understand where to direct the traffic between the two Dreamcasts when the
traffic returns (by looking on the source port).

What did you need to do to get it working? I still lose my connection within the first 10-15 seconds any time I try to connect to a server or create my own.

This happens even with my DC in the DMZ on my router. Super frustrating as it was game #1 I wanted to get working. :(

Any way to check the server logs to see if something funny is going on?

Yes, yes it is. I get IT tickets with less technical info than my post above more often than I'd like.

Well AFO has been working fine for everyone else , Your network must be blocking it. A network engineer should be able to fix it =P
