Remove 12v Resistor From Power Supply

I just got my USB GDROM in and I heard it runs cooler and less hot if the 12V resistor is removed. I’m new to the whole soldering thing so I need some clear instructions on how to do this and what to remove. I just bought a soldering iron, a solder sucker, some desoldering braid, and some solder wire as it came in two separate kits for under $20.

So, in easy to understand terms and preferably with pictures, what am I removing and how would I do it?

Somebody posted it on reddit a while ago. Generally you need to unscrew the resistor and desoldier it. The guide comes with pictures, so you shouldn't have too much of a problem doing it.

All you need is a 300 ohm resistor. No need to remove any pins.

Hi. Some people use 0,5 or 1 watt resistors. Is 0,25 watt enough?
