Hi everyone.
I have purchased my second ever Dreamcast. The first one did not work at all
The problem with my 2nd console is that the screen is cropped at the left side
This is the only TV I own for me to test, and I can only choose between the screen ratio (4:3, 16:9), and i cannot zoom in or out. All options give me the same outcome.
Any ideas how to fix this? Is this a common issue?
I've attached a screenshot outlining the issue.
Thanks in advance !!
Screen crop?

Re: Screen crop?
Hello, unfortunately it's a common issue that depends on how modern TVs manage the Dreamcast unique signal.
What cable are you using?
If you are using a VGA cable, simply disconnecting and reconnecting the cable AFTER the console reach the BIOS menu screen (of after you start any game), this re-center the image.

Re: Screen crop?
Hi thanks for the reply.
Glad it sounds like an easy fix and is due to a modern TV.
I believe I will have to obtain a CRT Tv.
I've attached a photo of the cable I'm using.
I have been disconnecting and reinserted the cable but unfortunately it doesn't resolve the problem

Your cable is a SCART, unfortunately this trick doesn't work with this cable, only works with VGA cable.
I don't know if there are RGB SCART that can solve the screen crop issue on DC, I'm searching for them too.

Re: Screen crop?
I see :/
I am picking up a 14 inch CRT TV next week.
If this doesn't solve the issue I will just sell the DC and have done with them as that will be 2/2 DC consoles owned that dont function like they should

Not the console it's the display that cant handle the output./.ShadowMonk wrote:I see :/

Re: Screen crop?
with a CRT you will be fine, the image will be centered, after all DC was developed for that TV technology.ShadowMonk wrote:I see :/

But on modern displays it's better to go for VGA (or VGA + HDMI) and use that trick.
