Dreamcast Resurrection? Is the Phoenix Rising?

Post by TheCoolinator »

I just got done researching this and I am very pleased with what I found, a whole bunch of new games from private software companies. I guess Sega is kicking themselves for totally cutting the Dreamcast lose. On there website I can't even find one tab thats about Dreamcast like they are trying to forget it even exists.

Check out these articles:

Thanks for the links. Yes there are a few new Dc games that have come out recently and a few more still releasing. Unfortunately, no it is not a Dreamcast resurrection. But, it's a good thing there is still a lot of support for our beloved console.

Corporate Sega likes to forget about the Dreamcast and all of its previous consoles, I think. There new mission statement must be something like this: "Our goal is to forget the past. We don't make hardware anymore, we shall never think about it, and don't mention we ever did."

I'm, sure the employees still remember. Then again most of the Dc era people were fired by Peter Moore after the discontinuation announcement.

Well, there's my rant... sigh.

That funny, I couldnt have said it better. You think the people who work for Sega hide their love for Dreamcast? I can picture them hiding a picture of them and their Dreamcast in their desk draw and quickly hiding it when their supervisor comes by. Secret Quake 3 or Soul Calibur Tournaments after work. lol

Interesting video I found pertaining to this subject. The music is very annoying but it gives a short clip of Simon J commenting on the Dreamcast.

Update: I found the full clip. I posted that first. The second video is with the music and it obviously take him out of context.

Which is exactly what they want. The SEGA you and I both knew and loved is a thing of the past. You know that is true when Yu Suzuki is talking about leaving. When Sammy Corporation bought SEGA that was the end of "our" SEGA. Sammy Corp is only in it for the money and could care less about the quality of games. They just bought the SEGA name so they could slap a popular Japanese name on their Pachinko machines. In the old SEGA, I used to talk to Scott Hawkins (Quake III, Sega Swirl, Sega Smash Pack) regularly through emails. I even sent in a long email to SEGA asking for them to please add the Dodge Viper to SEGA GT for the American release of the game and my points why it would be a wise decision. Not only did I get a reply, it was worded so I felt like I was helping them instead of them doing me a favor by replying. That was the old SEGA. The good SEGA.

Now, judging from the way I have been treated on the SEGA message boards and having never gotten a reply from them about a question I emailed them about the Shenmue Passport and Phantasy Star Online ver.2, it is very much the attitude that the more time you spend talking about and buying Dreamcast games, the less money and time you spend on the crap they are feeding us these days. Golden Axe: Beast Rider comes to mind. So yes, they want to pretend it doesn't exist because it is leeching money from their new games and is like an unwanted child to them now.

Very well said, Dreamcast_4_ever.

At least they did put the concept viper in sega gt. Maybe because of you :) .

I always wanted to communicate with Sega but I figure now most of the dc era employees are gone. With Sammy they have a new mission. Sammy probably brought in a new president and fired and brought his board of directors with him.
