Soon to be Owner! Game Suggestions?

My name is Sam and I'll soon be in possession of a Sega Dreamcast. I'm getting it with a VMU, Power Cord, AV Cables, 3 Controllers, Sonic Shuffle, Power Stone, Crazy Taxi, Ecco the Dolphin, Shenmue, Rayman 2, and Tom Raider: The Last Revelation. Very excited to own it, I've heard many great things about it, and intend to play on it a lot. I was wondering if you all had any game recommendations. Games you think I'd want. Just not rare titles. Lover of platformers and Sega arcade titles. Also was wanting a schump, but couldn't find any for a reasonable price. Just so you know, I already have the Adventure games and have little interest in Seaman and Soul Calibur.

Hi! If you like Sega arcade games, look no further than House of the dead 2, it's great fun. Also Confidential mission is another good Sega light gun shooter. Sega rally 2 is a great arcade port and obviously has the best game over screen of all time. If you want a cheap, good shmup, I'd say Gunbird 2 is a good shout, you can often get a good deal on it.Theres also the less good Ghost Blade. But yes shmups have become ridiculously expensive to the point of absurdity. Other than that, Jet Set radio, Skies of Arcadia, Fighting vipers, Metropolis street Racer, Grandia 2, Daytona 2001, Space channel 5 come to mind.

Mazone, big fan of platformers, really enjoy a lot of Sega games, in to RPGS. Various other things.

Thanks Future Gum, those are some great suggestions! The only concern I have is with playing those light gun games, as I plan to be playing it on a 60 inch 1080p television, which I believe doesn't work with light guns. Other then that, really gonna try and get Gunbird 2. Also want to go for Jet Set Radio. I have way more games that I can now look into. Thanks for the list, it was pretty helpful!

No worries dude! Fair enough, youre right about the light guns. I use a crt tv specifically for my dreamcast so i completely forgot about that. Gunbird 2 is a good one for sure. I just remembered Gigawing too, one of the cheapest shmups on the system, but i have to be honest...im not a huge fan of it. Have you seen Gunlord? Its a homebrew metroid style 2d platformer, not sure if thats your thing

If you like platform games, try Evil Twin: Cyprien's Chronicles.

Also, Sonic, Sonic 2, MDK 2, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver.

If you can look past the less than spectacular graphics, try Prince of Persia: Arabian Nights.

As far as imports go, there's Napple Tale: Arsia in Daydream, which has a very nice score by Yoko Kanno.
