Wheres the Atari Love??

So I was a big Sega nut in my youth, still am as many of you probably know lol. but I also had a fondness for the Atari Consoles. I'm pretty sure we had one of the originals with the really bland and ugly joysticks and the shocking pixelly graphics, then I got the Atari Lynx and the Jaguar... Anyone else own either of these from the ill fated hardware developer? Heres my games for both:

Lynx

what do you guys reckon?

The Jaguar is certainly an underrated 2d console, had they not marketed it as a 64bit earth shatteringly powerful super console they might have done ok, it was, at best, a pretty good 32bit 2d and slight 3d console, it could hold its own against the saturn in terms of 2d sometimes but the 3d it produced was attrocious by comparison lol.

The top games have to be:

Alien Vs Predator (EXCELLENT game, paid around £40, pretty rare)
Doom (looks and plays great on the JAG)
Rayman (looks even better than the Saturn version)
Cannon Fodder (looks awesome on Jag)
Super Burnout (think Super Hangon only much better)
Syndicate (sucks you in for AGES)
Tempest 2000 (best version by far)
Zool 2

anybody else got a Jag or owned one before?

You can see the jag in this photo, it was a pretty ugly beast but I loved it:

The Atari Lynx was also the most powerful handheld at the time, the thing had 16bit rather than 8, Stun Runner, Xybots, Qix and Batman Begins were highlights for me, I never got very many games for it sadly.

I'd be interested to hear peoples Atari thoughts

lol, nice! So you might be able to help me... I DISTINCTLY remember playing a game where you jump from diving boards or platforms, on either side of the screen, and you have to bounce off of something, either a trampoline or seesaw, and that was basically it, very blocky and probably only two colours lol, much like pong only a little more complex, any idea what that was?

My neighbor had one when I was younger. I actually purchased Raiden to play on his system... ended up keeping it for himself, that arse!

I did play AVP on the jag also... For its time, its a great game... But the Fox release of AVP for PC was so much better, sort of blew the jag apart.

dude your mad... the pc one was ok but nothing can top the original JAG version, ok in terms of graphics obviously it is superior but in terms of gameplay and the way that an AVP game should've been made, ie: different campaigns for the different races etc, it was the nuts. The thing I loved most about the Jag was the little button pad covers you could get for each game. I have ones for AVP, Doom, Wolfenstien, can't remember which others. Raiden is pretty awesome on JAG as well. I need to get a new Rayman cartridge at some point as mine is really starting to fail, I thought cartridges lasted forever!? lol

no one else got any love to share on the Atari side of things? I have to admit I was too young to know much about them in the early 80's, my only conscious experience of Atari consoles was when I got my Lynx and Jag in the early/mid 90s, the Jaguar was pretty cool though, I loved Syndicate and Cybermorph on that little machine. Then a few years ago I bought one again and went a little mad getting games. I need to try and find a new copy of Rayman on it!!

dude how can you say that about the jag? It was ridiculously over hyped and was nowhere near as capable as they made out but under all the horrible and overbearing marketing crap there is a nice little console with some good titles to find, funnily enough I'd say the exact same thing about the PS2!! but thats another story lol

I love playing a bit of the original Rayman, Doom, Cannon Fodder, AVP and Syndicate etc they all look absolutely phenomenal on the Jag
