Decided to buy the real thing too last week, so as of today I am the proud owner of a Turbo Duo R.
Having fond memories of their arcade counterparts, I got Salamander & Wonder Boy 3: Monster Lair, to test my unit. All is working fine and I am super happy I finally got one...been wanting that machine for 25 years now
And Parodius is on its way as well, a co-worker is bringing that from Japan for me so I should have it by next week

Re: Turbo Duo
Yeah, I'm really happy, was surprised too how good it still looks on a hdtv.
I was just wondering, since the manual is in japanse I haven't got a clue: what's the best procedure to shut the thing off when playing a cd game? Just power down, or open the lid first and then power down, like the DC/Saturn/psx,etc...
And how does the internal save work? It automatically saves at certain points in the game, or so you have complete control? Does it depend on the game?

Re: Turbo Duo
Best procedure to shut off is press select and press run to return to main menu (I believe thats the command) then shut it off. That's what I was told when I ordered mine.mazonemayu wrote:Yeah, I'm really happy, was surprised too how good it still looks on a hdtv.

I've not messed with the internal save, there's very little unfortunately. I'm not sure how to access it or if you need a hucard for it.

That is correct, best way for it to "spin down".Xiden wrote: Best procedure to shut off is press select and press run to return to main menu (I believe thats the command) then shut it off. That's what I was told when I ordered mine.
Also have a PC Engine Duo-R
Usually it autosaves or it will ask you, depens on game. You can also buy a Tennokoe Bank Card, but that is only if you are going to play a lot of JAP RPG's, otherwise you will be fine with the internal.mazonemayu wrote: And how does the internal save work? Re: Turbo Duo
Yes, I read about that card, but I got the impression it is made for the sole purpose of backing up your internal saves in case your internal battery runs out...
Do you guys have an everdrive? Obviously I intend to actually my buy games but there's a few games in the US Hucard library I want to play (Dragon's Curse & the Neutopia games come to mind and I don't think I want to spend $1000 on Dynastic Hero either LOL), I've seen there are a few revisions, does it matter which one you get?

Re: Turbo Duo
Well yes and no, you need it also to swap saves, if your internal memory gets full. But like I said, mazonemayu wrote: Yes, I read about that card, but I got the impression it is made for the sole purpose of backing up your internal saves in case your internal battery runs out...
only happens if you play a lot of JAP RPG's.
Don't have a everdrive.

Re: Turbo Duo
I have a turbo everdrive, the only version you can buy right now is the 2.5 version I believe http://www.stoneagegamer.com/turbo-everdrive-basic.htmlmazonemayu wrote:Yes, I read about that card, but I got the impression it is made for the sole purpose of backing up your internal saves in case your internal battery runs out...

Its pretty amazing, and since PC Engine/ TurboGrafx games are insanely priced, this is the only way I''ll be able to enjoy the games at all.

Re: Turbo Duo
Darn, so sorry for you. I am also a Turbo Duo owner, and have loved every minutes spent on it until recently the PSVR came along and its RE7. Sighs, must make time to go back to it before it gathers too much dust lol.
