"Nu" - Sega's new *COIN-OP* hardware

For those that are interested, Sega revealed its latest arcade board called "NU". Like most of its other recent arcade hardware and similar to the policies of Namco, Konami, Taito et al, it seems to be based on a mid-range gaming PC.

Actually "Sega NU" is a revision of RingEdge 2's initial spec design. Hence the name "New".

The x86 Power i3 "Ivy Bridge" CPU may be mid-range, but the GPU is a high end 2011 Nvidia 650 GTX using 4 GBs of GDDR 5 and DX 11 with Open GL 4.3 which is a step ahead of PS4/Xbox One's AMD Jaguar. Case in point, the CPU speed is definitely faster.

I find it VERY funny, that not only is this the 3rd consecutive board SEGA is using, not only is the the first time since the mid 90s that SEGA is using 3 of the same variant line,(,Model 1,Model 2,CDX) but the fact that SEGA unveiled RingEdge 2 last year without revealing its spec sheet, keeping it completely secret, not officially confirming its many leaked titles, has yet to reveal its specs but is flat out stating Nu's specs is pretty funny.

It indicates that something fishy is going on with RingEdge 2's hardware.

It also means, "RingWide" is being retired and that SEGA can now use the brand name for something else.
