It also could have been better. Who knows? If the dreamcast came out later it may have had a bba out of the box. Possibly a hard drive to. Or an option for it. We will never know though.

The PS2 was out by the time the BBA was released, but if the Saturn was done right (no early launch, reworking the hardware for easier programming, and not allowing Bernie to discontinue it so early), it could have overthrown the PlayStation and pave the way for the Dreamcast's success.

But even if the PlayStation failed, Sony had lots of money and backing for their consoles, so even if the PS1 didn't sell well, they could have easily made a PS2.

There's lots of ways to think about this, aren't there?

Alot of people and non sega fans seem to think saturn could have been number 1. It is possible it could have happened. Heck, Virtua Fighter 2 alone was actually boosting sales of saturn consoles in Japan. So sega was onto something there. And saturn had alot of near to perfect arcade ports of fighting games that were hot in the arcades, like X-Men vs. SF, Marvel Superheroes vs. Street Fighter, Vampire Hunter etc, that nearly anyone who played fighting games were playing in the arcades. So in a gamers mind, anyone would think that the saturn was on the right track, to being number 1. But unfortunately, sony's fake hype and silly false advertising, was too convincing and too strong for alot of people to resist. Kinda like how sony told people not to buy dreamcast, because they claimed that PS2 could do Toy Story 2 high level graphics and photorealistic games. And that dvd was the future of consoles and not online play, because no one would play games online. Good thing alot of gamers with intelligence including myself, knew that PS2 wasn't powerful enough and couldn't do that stuff, and it was all alot of fake hype and false advertising.
