video out put for 8 bit consoles

Ok so I have a lot of consoles as you all know and I am able to capture video now from all except anything that only had an RF cable, does anyone know if theres an alternative? For instance I'd love to be able to capture from the Mega Drive, Master System, Mega CD etc but can't capture from the RF cables I have for them. did anyone ever see a scart or Composite substitute?

Cheers

scart for 8 bit machines? Really? so then the question still remains, how do I get that to work with my video capture card which only reads S-Video and Composite

there's composite ones on ebay too. just type "megadrive scart" in the searchbar & they'll show up

hmm... I found this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SEGA-MEGADRIV ... 2803wt_952

But to be honest it looks more like it would fit a Saturn than a Mega Drive, would it be possible that the Saturn cable I have would fit my MD? Would you expect to see Red and White or just White? Some on there have white, I'm really surprised to see that these were made, they must have been 3rd party after market

Nope, the Saturn and MD/Genesis cables are not the same. They look very similar but they aren't interchangeable (I just tried it).

They should be stereo (red & white).

The one in the eBay auction may be third-party but Sega did make first-party composite cables. It's not really surprising since even the original NES had composite outputs built-in.

I actually googled more deeply and found that either the Master System or Mega Drive are JUST mono sound, what a pisser! Anyway I need to dig out the old gits from under my bed lol, I'll have a root around. There are sooo many games I have on Mega Drive and Master System that, if I could get to work on my PC I'd actually be able to play again!! Also I saw an actual RGB SCART lead for Mega Drive, thats awesome isn't it?? The RGB for Dreamcast is pretty brilliant, not far off the VGA signal

EDIT: also I wondered, if I have the old Sega Mega Drive 1 would an AV cable with red white and yellow listed as for the MD2 work with it?

hey wiz, as you tried the mega drive 2's aerial port recently would you say this item will work:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RGB-Stereo-Sc ... 172wt_1185

purely for the Scart picture output which should be better than RF!! Also as I have 32x and Mega CD will that item allow me to display all of them do you reckon?

No it won't. Model 1 uses a different cable then models 2 & 3. I actually figured out that the model 1 uses the same AV cable as the Master System.

That looks like the correct cable to me.
