Reader Questions for Upcoming Redline Arena Interview

I managed to snag an interview with the former President and CEO of Beyond Games, the developers of the cancelled Redline Arena for Dreamcast, and I'm looking for some Reader Questions to add to the article. If you have any questions you'd like to ask about the game, please post them here. I've already covered most of the basics so be creative. And no, he doesn't have a beta of the game that he can release.

In case you're unfamiliar with the game, you can find more info here:

Edit: The interview is now up! http://www.dreamcastlive.net/blogs/post ... ond-Games/

Oh that's really awesome! It's Kris Johnson, isn't it? BTW, Beyond Games were never dead, they later evolved into WildWorks and they now produce mobile kids games :D

The only question i could possibly add to that interview is that: "Is Redline Arena influenced by BattleWheels, which is a 1993 Atari Lynx release by your company?"

Yes it's Kris Johnson.

Although WildWorks was founded by Kris Johnson, it's a completely new company. Beyond Games went bankrupt around 2002/2003. WildWorks was started in 2012.

I did ask about what games were an influence but I'll still ask this as it's more specific. :)

Q: Is there a playable version for the Dreamcast with online ability in existence?

Sadly no. That's the reason I contacted him in the first place.

This game is NOT on the Wikipedia cancelled game list unless it is under a different name than Redline Arena.

Yeah that list is far from complete. I don't think half the cancelled games are on there.

Q: Whats it like seeing the passion of Dreamcast community and what was it like working with Sega back in the day? Did they make your life miserable like Nintendo?

He came across with some of his old and unreleased Atari Lynx stuff 4 months ago so either somebody from the Beyond Games days now has it or Redline Arena somehow got lost somehow with the transition from BG to WW. They were working on Ultra Vortex (Ultravore), Mechtiles and a RPG for the Lynx called Azeron + Alien vs Predator 2: Annihilation for the Jaguar CD (which he still has the design documents for it!).

Actually, they never did games for Nintendo, with the sole exception being the multiplatform title Hot Wheels Velocity X for PC, PS2 and GCN. They're most well known for BattleWheels on the Lynx and Ultra Vortek for the Jaguar :D
