Strange, that they uploaded a .LCD file to the official website. There is no real use for it over there, isn't it? Anyway thanks megavolt85 for this! I will add it to my compilation as a temporary substitute until someday maybe someone contributes the original .VMS file.

Shenmue - man this game is huge... It took about a week just to compile a list of all the character animations (DLC), that are still missing. With the help of the (unlocked) Shenmue Passport disc, an almost perfect savegame and a helpful website (http://orchardslope.g1.xrea.com/shenmue/p1.html), I've manged to get it all together.

Overall there has been once a total of 339 character animations for the "Shenmue Goodies" VMU minigame. 4 of these came with the minigame itself, the other 335 could have been downloaded in exchange for "winning cans". Yet, in order for these characters to appear on the listing in "Shenmue Passport", Ryo had to have talked to or crossed paths with them at least once.

207 animations are currently in circulation, the other 132 are missing. It would be nice, if at least some of these could surface somehow. I'd love to add as many as possible to the VMU collection set for a June 30th release. So, in case you still own some of the "Shenmue Goodies" please go through the following lists and let me know, if you find something.

This is the list of all wanted characters in alphabetical order:

LCD are animations files, they will show up in your VMU when you access the web site. That's what they originally wanted probably.

I'll try to sort out something for Beam Force, although i can't promise anything. The DLC i'm struggling to get is for Cool Boarders Burrrn! partly because i'm not sure of the exact number but it had probably something of the magnitude of 20+ DLC boards.
If i did manage to find some vmu/DLC content how would i actually transfer it to you?

Thanks for the offer!
Colgate has already contributed a working version of "Beam Force": viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5276&start=70#p129324

If you find any of the missing items, you could simply send me a PM. The private messaging system has an "add files" option underneath the actual message box, and all VMU files should be small enough, I guess.

I wanted to help. I have some of those wanted characters on the list, but I have encountered a strange problem.
I did the Patch Shenmue Passport (NTSCU), all functions work until I switch to Shenmue Goodies. After choosing any characters, the game hangs. No joy key responds, nothing is saved to the memory card, there is no error message. I did the test on Redream and NullDC emulators - the same problem.
Anyone had a similar problem?

That behaviour ist normal. The Shenmue VMU files ARE NOT on the Disc itself. Instead the Passport disc used to connect to the Shenmue website (or web service) in order to download the files. Since the website is offline nowadays, the exchange for winning cans is no longer working.

The only chance of collecting any of the missing character animations would be to find someone, who actually downloaded these back in the day...

Anybody here, who could translate the following text for me?

It's from a minigame that boots, but doesn't start properly...

I'm terrible at Japanese, so please roast >> this fool << if I get it wrong.

Aite no VM to setsuzoku-shite kudasai.

Please connect a companion VM.

It could also be "Please connect the opponent VM."
