SEGA Cyclone Development Kit

I've been reading up on this SEGA Cyclone Development Kit and was left confused: Is this supposed to be an "Arcade hardware" or a new "Console"?

At first, I thought that this Cyclone might be an update to the motion simulator like the Typhoon, or another arcade related thing such as a new board. But then, I was told that Typhoon was NOT a Sega property or IP, nor it is licensed by SEGA.

From what I could tell it looked like, don't quote me on this, but its the possible upgrade or spiritual successor to the Nu hardware judging that the Hatsune Miku fan base were the ones who first took notice of this. Then again some people thought it was the "Dreamcast 2" that we always wanted. Obviously there isn't much info but the trademark for it so only time will tell.

Now slightly offtopic but since you mentioned the Typhoon Simulator, I got the chance to play this recently which might be also a possibility of discussion if it is anyway connected to the Cyclone or even related to it.

Please don't bring console speculation into the Dreamcast lounge. There will never be another Sega home console from Sega. Please stop perpetuating the myth. Us vets here in this forum have seen waaaay too many gullible people come through the doors here hopeful of some wild eyed dream which ends up being nothing at all.

Please give it a rest folks. The closest we will ever get is a new motherboard somebody is actually working on for the DC which would have more ram and better chips in it since the patents are running out for the hardware and they have fully mapped the motherboard. the guy that is making the HDMI board and a friend of him have fully mapped it and are going to produce some updated motherboards in the future. Don't believe me?

I wouldn't say Sega will never make a home console again, no one knows the future :) Is it likely any time soon that they will make new hardware? Absolutely not, they have to fix their poor game development first well before even considering the thought of a another console.

If that new DC motherboard could also do all the Sega Legacy Consoles (Saturn, Genesis, etc) That would be a dream console for me at least.

That and they are not financially stable enough to ever think about releasing hardware outside the Arcade/Casino market. That's why they outsourced AtGames to manufacture their Megasis clone ideas over the last 5 years or so.
