Idea to get us even more Dreamcast online users :)

If someone knows Adam Koralik, or Mark from CGR, or other popular youtube dreamcast channels. We should send them Dreampi kits so they can show tons of people the world of Dreamcast online :) Just a thought

It's a good idea. I could see some of them doing it. Or update videos as new games come online.

Adam isn't at all interested in online gaming, even on the Dreamcast. Many people have asked him about DreamPi. As for Mark, I'm sure he gets tons of packages from people every day so even if you sent him one, there's no guarantee he would review it. It's definitely a good idea to spread the word but you would have to find someone that would actually be interested in using it.

Why don't you do a review, Wiz? And ask the junkyard to do an article on it?
That way it's easier for everyone th spread and look up.

I've already done multiple videos on DreamPi and videos every time a new game comes back online. Not to mention all the online gameplay videos on my other channel. I think my subscribers are probably tired of it by now.

I love your videos PC! Especially the review style ones where we can look back at old DC titles. Like that SpecOps game. Lol

Honestly though, your videos and channel should be getting more traffic then it does now and deserves it.

I think sending Mark a DreamPi would result in him doing some videos because he started CGR reviewing Dreamcast games in it's hayday. But the legality of the new servers might be a reason why he wont

He has his own forum, I'd suggest try contacting him
---------------
I've had my own ideas on this subject. And pretty much the best bet is going to larger, less specific gaming boards/communities (like steam community pages) and post regularly advertising this stuff exists

There's not many people on because not many people know about this. It's a matter of getting a clan of people together to campaign around other corners of the internet

The Skype group too is a very valuable tool to getting people on. Some might think it takes traffic away from here, but imo it does the opposite. It keeps people active, because it makes it really easy to get games going 'on-the-fly'. Scheduling on a forum is a format that I don't really like, and it's hard to have a specific time and day of the week to get on (which is why I'm not in the dreamcast live meets too much). Whenever I want to get on, I just drop a message in the Skype hoping at least 1 of the 82 people will also get on. Works for everyone. Not militarized 'this day at this time'

So pretty much my approach would be getting 10 people to go around the internet posting on any gaming communities, and posting links to here, dreamcast live, dcserv, dreampipe and the Skype group
---------------
Another idea I had was trying to contact some authors on big gaming press sites like Kotaku when AFO for example is finished

One Kotaku article could get at least 50 new people on

These are just my opinions and ideas though

you make a very good point, maybe we should try advertising the DC to the younger generation

The reason i'm on here is because I was really bored one day and googled "dreamcast servers". Got my DC off a shelf in my garage and began setting up a PC-DC. I had an account when this was still call dctalk.com, but that was before PC-DC was documented and at 14 I couldn't afford a BBA

Another idea that doesn't involve posting on other boards is setting up servers for Counter-Strike 1.6 & Source, Team Fortress 2, DayZ ETC with the servername something like
*SEGA DREAMCAST SERVERS* 24/7 de_dust2 No AWP/Auto

The MOTD menu in Source games is a mini web browser too, so an HTML page can be made linking here, a list of current operational games and a link to DreamPi setup tutorial. If the server title sparks their interest enough to connect, it's more likely than not they'll become interested enough to at least register here

There's probably many more people with a Dreamcast sitting on a shelf in their garage
