Half-Life not loading

Having a bit of trouble with a copy of Half-Life I got in the mail today. It started fine at first, I played the tutorial to get used to the DC controls and sat through that train ride at the start. (Can't believe I used to think that was the coolest thing ever way back in the day) But after the guard opened the door to let me in the facility the next loading screen came up and got stuck there. After about 10 minutes of waiting for it to load I restarted the game, but this time it wouldn't make it past the SEGA screen you see at startup. I know all copies are fan made and can be kinda glitchy but is there anything I can do to try to get it going? I already tried deleting the data to see if that might help it restart bit no luck.

It sounds like they used a shitty method of burning the disc and/or creating the disc image

I burned mine some time ago and it never loads up either. used the one from theisozone. thing is my burner can't burn slower than 16x but even then when burning the dc-x it works fine.

Tried it again this morning and everything ran fine, played up to right before entering the test chamber and didn't have any trouble. I guess this is gonna be one games where it works when it wants to.

Sometimes I have to attempt to boot the CDR 3 or 4 times before it loads. Perhaps because I can not burn slower than 8x..

How are you enjoying the playthrough?

Fine for that bit but like I said I stopped right before the test chamber. I'll probably play more when I get home.
