[ONLINE] External Serial Modems: Appreciation

i was just testing the PC-DC server iso in virtualbox. I was thinking the Prolific serial to usb adapter was causing issues so I installed a serial port bracket on my motherboards com1 header and removed the Prolific serial to usb adapter. Now with the onboard serial port when loading up the PC-DC server .iso I'm getting these ERRORS in terminal when running the "Enter to matrix" script.

I know the modem doesn't support voice but I have read that other users like Scrivani, have been able to use this modem. I wonder if it has anything to do with the dip switched on the modem?

Yes, i have a custom script for that modem. It is data modem, but i found an analog tone usable function.

I wan't to say thanks to Scrivani for all his help getting my modem connected. For anyone that see's this post and is interested in setting up a U.S. Robotics 5685 serial modem, you will need a line voltage inducer. I am in the USA and I have only tested +18v. I am not sure if +9v will be enough. The DC to DC step up converter that I purchased for this project has a micro usb input and can step up from 2v-24v to 5v-28v. It also has a smd cap between the output pads. I didn't have a 0.47uf 50v cap but I did use a 330ohm resistor on the - output. You will also need a custom dreampi.py script that Scrivani has created that you will need to replace the stock script on the raspberry pi. I still have some more testing to do. I have a couple longer phone lines that I think are 50foot long and I want to build a box/enclosure for the step up converter. I also want to try to modify one of these step up converters inside the serial modem so I will have less wires and a cleaner install.
