I have IRC links on Dreampipe main and BB, but I got a shit server host and gave up on them because they lost my server node 3 times. So the links I have are dead

I've been having a hard time finding a regularly active Dreamcast IRC, I was wondering if anyone here knows of one or more

It would be nice if the chat box on the main page here was linked to an IRC channel

Any web developers on the forum? There's got to be a way to integrate an IRC client into the website.

I've discussed this with Impulse before but we weren't able to find an IRC client that would integrate well with the forum. If anyone has the know-how to develop one specifically for the forum, I'm sure Impulse would be happy to implement it.

Well I know there are phpbb plugins to do exactly that but are outdated, but you could also get other non-phpbb integrated IRC plugins and use an <iframe> but linking to dc-talk logins would need to be added

A bot could also be made to relay the messages here to an IRC, something like that also exists already for discord

It wouldn't really be too hard to do for any experienced dev

I was also just thinking of compiling a page of many active IRC channels and letting people select and jump between them, but then you're in much deeper parts of the internet lol

Is running the DC constantly that great ? y'know .. the warping pins on the power supply so they make poor contact causing lotsa resets ..

.. also the idle-disconnect .. is there a way to disable that in XDP custom planetweb ?

Not with a disc. If you had an IDE mod you could do that I think. That's why I want the IDE mod actually. Not sure if you can disable auto disconnect, you might be able to hack it to something ridiculous like 999999, but that might require risky flashrom modding

I've been messing around with connecting to freenode on both the Saturn and Dreamcast. Which IRC channel is the official dreamcast-talk channel? On the main dc-talk webpage it says #dc-talk, however there's also a #dctalk which displays this message upon joining: #dctalk: Welcome to Dreamcast Talk IRC channel, please visit at http://dreamcast-talk.com.
