Hey! I'm new to dreampi and I'm attempting to get online. I flashed my raspberry pi 2 with dreampi and I checked and it seems like it boots alright. The only thing notable is that every time it boots it says "Failed to start dhcpcd on all interfaces". Besides that I think it still works as it displays my ip address and it turns both of my USB modem lights on. The USB modem I'm using is this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077YBTC2J/re ... NDbDT6M16P . This one works with linux I believe as someone in the reviews says so. It also says that it has a built in VLI, but who knows if that's actually true. I'm using a GDEMU and I boot up XDP Dreams and start up the custom planetweb 2.6x. My issue is that when I try to connect, it always says that there is no answer at this telephone number. My internet settings are set exactly to the one in the 2017 video tutorial so there should be no issue there. I'm wondering what is causing this issue?? Is my dreamcast's modem busted or is the USB modem not working as it should? Thank you guys in advance.

The issue is that you have no line voltage inducer. No retail USB modems have one built in unless they've been modified by someone.

I have exactly the same problem but I bought a LVI from the dreamcast-live store. Creepily this is almost exactly the same problem as mine and I had to check i hadn't posted it myself while drunk last night lol

The dhcpcd error is normal. It has nothing to do with the issue. Are both lights on your modem lit up when you try and connect?

Yes they are both solid lights no flashing or blinking etc.

Hmmm, are you using a generic USB modem like the OP?

Yeah. Mine was an ebay buy. It said Linux compatible in the description. I have a feeling I'll have to wait for payday and get the one linked on kazades blog

Yeah, I'd say the modem is the most likely issue. Generics are always a risk, even if they say they're Linux and Voice compatible. Someone else had the same issue a while back. He had a generic modem with both lights lit up and a LVI, but couldn't get a dial tone. It's always best to go with one of the recommended modems like a Dell NW147, the Lenovo equivalent, or a Zoom 3095.
