Anyone had luck with this "Corn" branded modem?

Hey all. I'm trying to get my Dreamcast online but struggling to source a suitable modem. I found this on Newegg:

https://www.newegg.com/global/au-en/lenovo-43r1814-43r1815-dial-up-modem/p/1EC-00A9-00001

It appears to be using the correct Conexant chipset since, fortunately, they show the internals in the listing. It's not Dell or Lenovo branded, but the internals match the example given on this website's DreamPi troubleshooting page.

The only issue is that it doesn't mention if it's Linux-compatible.

If it matters, I'm in a PAL region (I've already built an 18v line inducer).

You might send a pm to pcwzrd13 as he's the expert on that. He may possibly have an unmodified modem available maybe he could sell since you already have your lvi built.

Here is his site https://dreamcastlive.net/shop/

He replied and said he's actually ordered that before and they just sent him a Lenovo branded one. So, I've ordered one myself and will report back on how I go.

An update: they instead sent me a completely different modem that uses a different Conexant chip. It's the exact same one that's available all over eBay that's not compatible with Linux. They've also removed the original listing so beware of Corn Electronics!

If you can install the drivers your HSF (softmodem) on windows, you can use it with serial COM port sharing with oracle virtualbox+virtual machine, but maybe with loss of performance.

A little small chance to use this modem direct inside of virtual machine usb host, if you can install the linuxant hsf drivers

Megavolt dreampi virtual machine
viewtopic.php?t=12731

This VM can already have Linuxant drivers, run those commands there and show us.

Even without voice features, if it is the case, i can teach you how to try a way to workaround this and get working
