Re: Modem still won't give me a second light
Really strange. I don't see anything wrong there. It's booting up fine and connected to the network. I can't think of anything that could be wrong outside of what you've already mentioned.

Re: Modem still won't give me a second light
It was just a homemade LVI made by a guy on ebay. He had images of every console it worked with including the Dreamcast. They were selling like crazy too, 70 of them sold in a short period of time. The seller name was CMA Microsystems.

Maybe the bulbs just dead? I'll try again and maybe I'll be lucky.

Still no luck. You know a reliable place to find a modem that won't have this problem so I could rule it out? How does shipping a modem in to get the built in LVI one work?

Also could someone with the dell modem plug it into their PC and tell me what the name of the device is on device manager? I have an idea

Re: Modem still won't give me a second light
I don’t know any other outlets that sell USB modems with built in LVI… I went the Magic Jack route for the LVI. (Found one on eBay for 10 dollars) It just seemed easier that way.
I had to try a different setup after my first attempt failed. (My first attempt the only difference was that I was using a Startech-USB56KEM2 modem. Which I thought was either the same as the USB56KEMH2 or similar enough)

Re: Modem still won't give me a second light
Thanks to Scrivani, the issue is solved. My modem was good, but for some reason the pi wasn't connecting with the modem properly to reach the right DNS. Now I just need to figure out why my wifi configuration is not working, but I got ethernet until then

Re: Modem still won't give me a second light
In case anyone is still having this issue, with my Raspberry Pi Model B (yes the 10 year old one), I had to switch the modem to the top USB port. The bottom port would light up only one light on the USB modem, but the top port would light up both lights, and work with my dreamcast with wifi.
