Phone Line Coupler Issues

So a recently, I have been acquiring parts to get my dreamcast online. I've heard that I can use a phone line coupler to create the Line voltage inducer more compact, and so I purchased one, not realizing it was an rj12 rather than rj11. Inside there is black and orange wire, and it has 6 wires rather than 4. Is it still possible to use it if I cut off 2 wires on each end of the row of 6 to make it rj11? I would probably use a diagram from there to figure out the color. Thanks.

RJ12 is backwards compatible with RJ11, but not the other way around when using it for actual phone line.
In your case, you should be fine.
