I'll try joining yours. Yup, DMZ to the dreamcast (.98, as shown in Quake3), and works fine with Alienfront etc. I can start the starlancer game fly through asteroids etc.

Are you running dreampi 1.7?

I would disable port fowarding and just use dmz if they are both on and try that too.

Are you behind a firewall?

If you can't join there has to be something blocking the ports needed on your end.

Saw your game "Test" and tried to join, but got the same error. I think I'll have to call it a night for now and look into using an alternate WAN/router before trying this again (maybe based on LTE). Thank you for the advice and the troubleshooting help though. Hopefully I'll have better luck next game night

If you are free tomorrow night send me a PM and we can try some other ideas. Otherwise you may send a message to Shuouma to see if he can troubleshoot with you, he runs that server and could diagnose your issue too

Not sure of my DreamPi version, I downloaded it about 2-3 weeks ago, so it should be recent. I'll check and set up a new SD card though.

It does feel like it should be a blocked port somewhere, but I've tried every combination of port forwarding without DMZ and vice versa, with ample reboots of the router, system and Pi, all with the same result (and firewall completely down with no other devices on the network other than the Pi connected via ethernet).

That's why I think my next step will be to come up with a way to try this on a completely different ISP and router setup to eliminate any configuration gremlins there. It's something I want to figure out anyway to be able to have two dreamcasts locally be able to both connect to play online games head to head. Currently trying on Fios and the standard Actiontec router for reference.

Phew. Me and Tapstar finally got to play a game. He fixed his DMZ and I had to direct connect to my router. Chu Chu is the first game that has required that, but good to know.
