Hello,
I have a USB-GDROM board and it seems to mostly work ok with a USB thumbdrive, but if I try to run games off a USB hard drive they start, but after a few minutes it seems to stop reading the hard drive and eventually the game crashes. For example in crazy taxi the music will stop and skip. The game keeps working until it needs to load in the next section then it crashes. This also happens on Tony Hawk 1 and 2 that i've tested so far.
Any Ideas?

The hard drive firmware is causing the disk to spindown after inactivity, and sleep. This also happens if I use usb hdds, and other consoles when the disk isn't periodically used, so I just use large capacity thumbdrives.

That's what I thought was happening too. It's just weird that it happens while the HD is being actively read (in this case it was actively streaming the music).
I'll find something else to do with this HD.

Maybe there is some expected signal not being sent to the HDD to keep it active, and USB pass through isn’t sending it. Maybe try another drive or SSD as there’s no seek with flash memory.
