So I have an original Dreamcast, and I mean original as in the first version to ever come out. All my games run fine except a game I received as a present. The game is in perfect condition, no scratch or disc rot at all, it looks like the disc is brand new. When I put it in my system it won't read the disc, it tells me to insert disc. The game is Sonic Adventure. I've read that since this game was a Dreamcast original it could be a defective disc. Is there a way to get it to work?

It was given to me as a gift to replace one that had gotten broken many years before.

I have a copy of sonic adventure that also does this. Disc is mint but never loads. I ended up just getting another one.

was it sealed new or resurfaced?

ive had a few resurfaced discs fail..

Were there really defective GDs other than the Midways ..?

Ive had that once with a shenmue game. Keep trying it will eventually load.

It wasn't sealed or resurfaced. I might have to break down and hunt down somewhere to buy a different copy, they are so hard to find even in used game stores.

Which game title and region is it exactly?
For some games (e.g. "Worms Armageddon", PAL) complete print runs are known for this faulty behaviour and non-durability.
