Burning Games

Hi, there!
Long story short- I sold my entire DC collection a few years ago to help my finances. I'm now slowly rebuilding the entire collection. One game I want to get back is Half Life. It is the only game I have ever burned and used on Dreamcast, as I prefer to collect the originally released games (and I don't support pirating). But seeing as how Half Life was cancelled, despite it being done, burning is the only way to go.
I was able to burn it originally back in the mid 2000s using Alcohol 120 and a 4x CD-R writer.
Now, I have tried using a few different iso downloads (iso zone and doperoms) of Half Life for DC. I have a 10x CD-R writer and I have tried Disc Juggler, Alcohol 120 and ImgBurn. I am using TDK CD-Rs.
I can not, for the life of me, get the DC to read the game. I always get the 'Please insert a Game Disc' message. My Dreamcast is a NTSCU HKT 3020 made in China, September 2000 with a 1 in the circle.
Not sure what I'm doing wrong this time.

You must be burning coasters there. Are you sure you have everything setup to burn Dreamcast games. A rundown of the settings you have set for all 3 of your burning programs may help.
My Steam Profile (from SteamDB)

  • Worth: $2623 ($699 with sales)
  • Games owned: 250
  • Games played: 146 (58%)
  • Hours on record: 1,948.2h

I essentially followed all steps on this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JfUafBAuDG8

I have been using Alcohol 120 and ImgBurn, with all of the recommended steps as seen in the video. My cd burner will only go down to 16x, so maybe that's it.

I have also heard about laser recalibration. How does that work?

I think the best method is to use a potentiometer. I tried the method posted on youtube which involved a pliers. Not recommended.
I'm taking my dc to a repair shop for laser recalibration. My new dc is very picky and behaves weirdly with certain discs but not all of the time.
