SEGA files NEW hardware trademark!

Apparently in late February, SEGA under thier SEGATOYS division has filed a brand new non arcade trademark! Here's the link to the mark:

The new tablet is rumored to be a cheaper alternative to the I-pad and is also rumored to contain the same PowerVR 5GXMP2 GPU as NGP. Do to the devestating Tsunami, additional information about it will not be released until later this month.

From what I've heard and from what Haneda has told me, SEGA will pass it off as a non gaming device, even though it willl be capable of downaloadable game titles and hopes to dash Sony's hopes of NGP becoming a serious contender against 3DS.

The new tablet is also rumored to be priced at $150-200($170-220) and will likely be publicy unveiled at SEGA Gamer's day 2011 in May, 17 years to the day SEGA Saturn was annouced. SEGA also plans on unveiling alongside the 20th anniversary of Sonic The Hedgehog.

The project "NEPTUNE" high end ray tracing game console will not be annouced until early 2012.

As much as I want to believe that segaleaks has valid information. They post soft porn on their site and most of their sources aren't really that legit. I do however believe that sega is working on something. I dont think they would re-release all their top dreamcast games on XBLA and PSN unless they were trying to see if there was any interest. Plus a couple of weeks ago Xbox posted job positions for the next console. So I think sega needs to start working on something.

They weren't doing this before the Tsunami. This behavior is all of BrianH's doing. He's only doing this because the Tsunami has shut doown many major Japanese corporation operations and is taking advantage of the fact that no one will monitor the blog since SEGA's office is closed, once business resumes, he'll stop since it will risk them being dropped from wordpress.

I am frankly very digusted with BrianH's behavior, its up to Mr. Morris to repermand him or suspend him from posting entries. If not, then I'll petition to have Brian fired.

The codename is not to be confused with the scrapped stand alone Sega 32X which itself is actually an abandoned 2D cartridge system called Jupiter that was scrapped by SEGA of Japan when development of Saturn begin in February 1993 which was codenamed "Aurora". The codename is refering to the game "Super Demensional Game Neptune" in where the main character Neptune Heart is actually a new unamed SEGA console. The project also goes by the codename " SEGA Neptunia" so I guess its better to call it that. The arcade version SEGADRIVE will not be PC based like LINDBERGH and RINGEDGE instead, contain original silicon like NAOMI which bring the chances of a console from it higher than ever.

I don't have much details on the CPU but it said to have SEGA once again contracted Hitachi to build an up to date configured SuperH CPU, this newest one codenamed "SH-X3 HD" uses 40 32- bit RISC cores, 16 L2 cores and 4 large L3 cores running at 4.0 GHZ clock speed. All told, the console is 512-bit.

The hardware will be the first to use IM's new cutting edge graphics chip Caustic PowerVR RTU capable of producing Avatar-like visuals. The console may be unveiled at GDC next year from what Haneda told me.

I also have some info on MS and Nintendo's next machines, both codenamed "Xbox HDp" and "GALAXY" use GeForce GPUs from the 400 Xbox 3 and 200 series N GALAXY. Though another source claims Xbox 3 to use AMD once again.

Both projects will be annouced at E3 this year.

I completely agree! I want a console, not a tablet. I heard the tablet is aimed towards kids.
