Some Thoughts.

Post#1 » Mon Feb 13, 2012 7:52 am

I believe the new arcade board is still scheduled for 2012 release, however my new position on the console is that it won't see light of day until Q4 2013.

The reason I say this is because Sega has games planned for rival consoles through Q4 of this year. Games such as the recently announced Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing 2 and Yakuza 5.

Being realtime ray tracing capable, the new board shall no doubt be expensive, introducing the console variant one whole year after the arcade board shall reduce costs to a level were Sega can sell the hardware at a mass market price point.

What are your fanciful thoughts?

Due to their domain change & transisition to a multimedia,multi industrial conglomorate SEGA Orbi, several projects originally planned for the first half of this year have been delayed to adjust publishing clauses. Normally these
titles would meet their deadlines but the delays indicate major changes. In
fact these titles will likely end up as digital content.

As for Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing 2, most sources point to Sega of Europe hiring developers for a 3DS version, no other platforms have been confirmed.

There is no console. If there is, NOBODY knows about it except for people at SEGA.

However, there could be potential with the new arcade board...

This new Orbi brand could offer loads of surprises. We may never know what the future holds.

In fact, i'm going to compare it to the SEGASammy domain name and list the numerous things that may spawn from the mark itself.

It would seem that the NEW Sega Orbi trademark is a new domain name, new brand name that will replace SEGASammy(which may soon be defunct) and open more revenue and investment capital for SEGA.

First, I'll list the SegaSammy trademark domain brand and compare it to Orbi's:

SEGA SAMMY

SEGASammy has 4 ICs. And few of its descriptions are bit similar to Orbi's. But the key description here distinguishes it from Orbi and probably helps show SEGASammy is a software only company

" consumer video games; consumer video game programs This description is absent from Orbi's IC which is in the same catagory:

IC 009. US 021 023 026 036 038. G & S: coin, bill and card operated photo booths which take photographs and allow the user to receive photographs; photographic machines and apparatus; cinematographic machines and apparatus; optical apparatus and instruments; telecommunication machines and apparatus; mobile phone straps; headphones; batteries and cells; telephone sets; mobile phones; audio cassette and CD players; video cassette recorders and players, compact disc players, digital audio tape recorders and players; DVD players; radios; computers; electronic circuits, magnetic tapes and disks, optical disks, ROM cartridges containing game programs for use with personal computers; electronic circuits, magnetic tapes and disks, optical disks, ROM cartridges containing game programs for use with arcade game machines; computer programs; other electronic machines, apparatus and their parts; video game software; computer game programs; computer games software; video game discs and cartridges; video game programs; game programs for mobile telephones; game software for personal computers; downloadable game programs; downloadable games files; mouse mats; home video games; electronic circuits, CD-ROM containing programs for use with hand-held video game machines; home video game software; game software for hand-held game machines; game equipment sold as a unit for playing a parlour-type computer game; CD-ROM computer game discs and computer programs, namely, software linking digitized video and audio media to a global computer information network, cellular telephone accessories, namely hands-free accessories, cellular telephone covers; records; electronic circuits and CD-ROMs; downloadable music files; downloadable audio files; audio discs and audio tapes; exposed cinematographic films; exposed slide films; slide film mounts; downloadable image files. recorded video discs and video tapes; motion picture films featuring comedy, drama, action, adventure and/or animation, and motion picture films for broadcast on television featuring comedy, drama, action, adventure and/or animation; audio tapes, audio-video tapes, audio video cassettes, audio video discs, and digital versatile discs featuring music, comedy, drama, action, adventure, and/or animation; short motion picture film cassettes featuring comedy, drama, action, adventure and/or animation to be used with hand-held viewers or projectors; downloadable video files; downloadable graphics, Images and music via a global computer network and wireless devices; electronic publications; eyeglasses, sunglasses and cases therefore; downloadable multimedia files, text files; protective helmets; games (apparatus for -) adapted for use with an external display screen or monitor

It's more specific, it contains key descriptions SEGASammy doesn't have. Including:

" digital audio tape recorders and players; DVD players; radios; computers; electronic circuits, magnetic tapes and disks, optical disks, ROM cartridges containing game programs for use with personal computers; electronic circuits, magnetic tapes and disks, optical disks, ROM cartridges containing game programs for use with arcade game machines; computer programs; other electronic machines, apparatus and their parts;

This means, SEGA Orbi will also manufacture and sell silicon and parts for Electronics!

The description "games(apparatus for-)adapted for use with external display screen,monitor." is odd because "Apparatus" refers to some type of gaming hardware.

Now compare Orbi's IC 028 to SEGASammy's:

G & S: amusement machines and apparatus for use in amusement parks (other than arcade video game machines); arcade video game machines; electronic circuits, magnetic tapes and disks, optical disks, ROM cartridges and other recording media containing game programs for use with arcade video game machines; arcade video game machines other than those adapted for use with an external display, screen or monitor; electronic circuits, magnetic tapes and disks, optical disks, ROM cartridges and other recording media containing game programs for use with arcade video games; amusement game machines; amusement apparatus for use in arcades; stand alone video output game machines; pinball game machines; coin or counter operated arcade games; vehicle toys; electronic toys; hand-held games with liquid crystal displays; stuffed toys; toys; dolls; developmental toys; play sets and accessories for dolls; stuffed plush dolls; collectable range of toys and dolls; collectable range of stuffed plush toys; action figures and accessories; toy zip guns; toy bakeware and toy cookware; toy banks; toy snow globes; toy action figures and dolls; clothing and accessories for toy action figures and dolls; educational toys and playthings; hand held electronic games; handheld game apparatus with liquid crystal displays; electronic hand-held game units; puzzles; jigsaw and manipulative puzzles; plastic toys; toy figurines; action figures; action figure toys; toy models; bath toys; inflatable toys; Christmas crackers; Christmas ornaments; Christmas tree ornaments; decorations for Christmas trees; kites; puppets; paper party favours; paper hats; paper face masks; masquerade and Halloween masks;costumes being childrens' playthings; go games; Japanese playing cards. Japanese chess; dice; Japanese dice games; cups for dice; diamond games; chess games; checkers; conjuring (magic/illusion) apparatus; dominoes; playing cards; mah-jong; game equipment sold as a unit for playing a board game, a card game, a manipulative game, a parlour game, a parlour-type computer game, an action type target game; board games; trading cards game; game cards; slot machines(amusement machines); other game machines and apparatus; billiard equipment; darts; digital darts; automatic slot machines; coin slot machines; slot machines(gaming devices); gaming machines;sports equipment; gymnastic and sporting articles not included in other classes; skateboards; wheeled toys; scooters, bicycles and tricycles for playsit on rides; kites; ice skates; water squirting toys; balls, namely, playground balls, soccer balls, baseballs, basketballs; play balloons; baseball gloves; surfboards; swimming floats for recreational use; kickboard flotation devices for recreational use; swim boards for recreational use; swim fins; knee pads; elbow pads; games other than those adapted for use with an external display screen or monitor; balloons

Take a look at these descriptions :!: "stand alone video output game machines;hand held electronic games; handheld game apparatus with liquid crystal displays; electronic hand-held game units;

Can any say the "KidsPad,dc Pad?" :D

Also, IC 009 is widly commonly the main International Class for consumer home living room & building products(ahem, 1st party brand. products.) The 028 IC is more of the secondary category.

IC 041 is for rental and ownership of public places.

IC 041. US 100 101 107. G & S: sporting and cultural activities; providing education, entertainment and cultural activities; production, presentation and distribution of audio, video, still and moving images and data; publishing services (including electronic publishing services); organization, production and presentation of shows, competitions, games, concerts, exhibitions and events; education; providing of training; organization, production and presentation of competitions; organization, production and presentation of exhibitions for cultural or educational purposes; publication of books; educational and instruction services relating to arts, crafts, sports or general knowledge; arranging, conducting and organization of seminars; providing electronic publications; planning or arrangement of showing movies, shows, plays or musical performances; providing information relating to planning or arrangement of showing movies, shows, plays or musical performances; movie showing, movie film production, or movie film distribution; production of video tape film in the fields of education, culture, entertainment or sports; providing amusement facilities; providing amusement arcades; providing amusement parks; providing on-line games; providing games by using telecommunication via the computer terminal or mobile phones; provision of discussion forums; organization, production and presentation of game events; entertainment; entertainment information; providing information about amusement facilities; entertainment services, namely, providing on-line games and on-line computer games; entertainment services, namely, conducting a game of chance simultaneously at multiple, independent gaming establishments, on-line computer games and/or on-line video games; providing on-line non-downloadable comics; providing information on computer game strategies and/or video game strategies via computer networks and/or global communication networks. providing information on entertainment in the field of computer games, video games, card games, animated cartoons, comics, novels and/or magazines; providing information on on-line games, on-line non-downloadable magazines in the field of computer games, video games, cartoons and/or general entertainment; information, advisory and consultancy services relating to all the aforesaid; providing facilities for movies, shows, plays, music or educational training; rental of motion pictures; rental of cinematographic machines and apparatus; rental of records or sound-recorded magnetic tapes; rental of image-recorded magnetic tapes; rental of toys; rental of amusement machines and apparatus; rental of game machines and apparatus

Alot larger than SEGASammy's.

Plenty to break down, which I'll do later. But for now I'll leave everyone with this:

IC 020. US 002 013 022 025 032 050. G & S: goods (not included in other classes) of wood, cork, reed, cane, wicker, horn, bone, ivory, whalebone, shell, amber, mother-of-pearl, meerschaum and substitutes for all these materials, or of plastics; cushions, including air cushions, pet cushions, neck support cushions, seat cushions; divans mats; japanese floor cushions; pillows; support pillows for use in baby car safety seats; support pillows for use in baby seating; water pillows, other than for medical purposes; air pillows, not for medical purposes; neck pillows, other than for medical or surgical use; scented pillows; stuffed pillows, sleeping bags; inflatable pillows; inflatable publicity objects; mattresses; bedding, except linen; drinking straws; hand-held flat fans; hand-held folding fans; furniture; mirrors; picture; office furniture; wall plaques; key cards; bamboo, bamboo curtains and bamboo blinds; bead curtains; cases storage containers; trunks and chests; cabinets; chairs; desks and tables; dressing tables; easy chairs; beds and water beds; bed fittings not of metal; bedsteads; furniture screens; clothes hooks and coat hangers; coat stands; garment covers; door fittings and door furniture; flower stands; footstools; hat stands; display boards; bottle caps not of metal; bottle casings of wood; bottle racks; magazine racks; plate racks; mirror tiles; trays not of metal; boxes of wood and/or plastic; packaging containers of plastic; containers of wood and of plastic, high chairs for babies; playpens for babies and walkers for infants; mobiles; cots; cradles and cribs; chimes; statuettes and figurines of wood wax, plasters and of plastic; works of art of wood, wax, plaster and of plastic. indoor window blinds; blinds; picture frames

Because patents and trademarks are what HELP create things. Makes them reality. Without them, your Dreamcast would have NEVER existed.
