2018 and counting- Doom for Dreamcast Online

Honestly I think at this point the best way we can get Doom working online to to use a more current source port with better networking. I've been looking into porting Crispy Doom 4.3 to the DC using a bastardization of Crispy code and Chilly's code from 2010. I've never done DC programming before nor done any sort of porting so the progress is slow but I'm confident it can be done. If we could distribute a .cdi with this and freedm.wad we could facilitate easier online play among the community rather than everyone trying to burn their own copy and hoping their .wad's match.

Nice option, if you have progress let us know, open a post just for this, i am sure you can get some expertise help, if needed. Also in DCEmulation forum.

Meanwhile, I'm going to burn Doom Online DC (World) , hosted at emuparadise. If someone did the same let me know to start the attempts.

theisozone option of Doom DC says that there is no network support, not sure if is 100% true, so I'm not going to try this one by now.

I hope you guys can get to the bottom of it. Always been surprised few new titles take advantage of the DCs online feature, and an online Doom would rock.

im pretty sure i gave impulse a CDI i compiled based off the "shitload of mods" release on TiZ, but its the online compatible port

ask impulse to look around on the dc-talk file manager, it was like early 2016

from my DC after dialup against my Linux machine running SDL Doom. Works fine.

So the network-code is working. People just need to be careful when setting up the network variables.

Will release the CDI soon.

Not that you guys know this already but I've been quite busy with working with a lot of stuff with a few sub-communities within the Doom fanbase like Brutal Doom, Project Brutality, Touhou Doom, Project Black Mass, Zandronum, and various other smaller stuff across the entire scene. I also may or may not have contributed to this upcoming release so stay tuned I guess.
