The Dreamcast's 320x240 VGA signal is identical to 640x480 VGA. It just outputs each pixel multiple times.

Ok, so the final output from the video connector is 640x480 60Hz. I was wondering if pixel doubling was happening.

It looks very good, and I look forward to smoothly modifying other games in the future

Absolutely amazing work! Hope this opens things up to us eventually getting everything in Dubcitys NON-VGA thread ( https://www.dreamcast-talk.com/forum/vi ... 22&t=14508 ) converted and then he can close it off.

Hijacking this thread since it's probably the most attention by mod authors this amazing gem of a game will ever get.

I want to translate this game to other languages and hopefully fix the English translation (at least to use better fonts). I have reasons to think it's all prerendered graphics. However, all files begin with the header "LZYF1000" which I assume is a compression wrapper. It's more readily visible in the European version where all localization files are helpfully relocated to their own folder.

There were some recent breakthroughs in DC modding and this thread is the most direct attempt to change how the game is rendered, so I wanted to take my chances and ask anyways.

Updated first post with a Codebreaker patch.

No progress on green lasers.

I'll look at it a bit, but no guarantees. It looks like the file header uses big endian for some reason...

Thank you for taking the time to explain how the patch works, I'm always curious about the technical side of it.

Amazing work, thankyou so much for this, there are only a tiny handful of non VGA games now!

Is it possible to use the values listed in the first post to patch the Japanese version?
The Japanese version has noticeably brighter colours, and looks better in my opinion.

I love that fantastic developments like this are still happening for the DC!
