Serious Sam - A New Homebrew Possibility

i came across this two minutes ago. didn't look at any specifics at all. but i know the classic serious sam(s) was on PS2, and the dreamcast could almost definitely run it

i know it would take a lot of work to get serious sam to work. but i'm just shooting the breeze and pointing out that this is a very "serious" possibility for a new dreamcast game

shuouma's port of quakeworld in development is a perfect example of obvious dreamcast homebrew that was never done. and serious sam could potentially be the same. by "obvious" i mean things that could definitely run on dreamcast but nobody ever thought to try it out

https://github.com/Croteam-official/Serious-Engine

thoughts on the possibility of serious sam on dreamcast?

edit: i also want to say i know this will probably never be ported. but the game is from 2001 and the code isn't an engine reimplementation so this would have a very good chance of being run on dreamcast

I dont see these being done.. The best bet would be porting it using wince dev kit.. but it's a very old subset of directx .. I looked at it.. For me way to much work .. That not to say some one with more skill cant do it.. but it would be not the same game.. You have to rewrite large part's to work for the hardware.. Anyway's i had a look.. .. I could be made to run yes.. But it would take a full time job

Agreed, Ian. Too bad this cannot "just happen".
