Just in case anyone else runs into this auto-per game VMU issues I did. After updated firmware, you need to re-enable "Game Title ID" in Memory settings. And the automatic load on newer firmware is now an "A" in the upper left corner of the VMU, not a block of text that says that a vmu was created. I'm all good now, and hopefully this spares some other people the angst and confusion I had :-)

GDEMU's SD card cannot be written to from any game software. Also, your VMU doesn't need batteries just to operate. It needs batteries to function in standalone mode to do things like play VMU minigames. Can you imagine if the VMU needed working batteries just to save games?
legolas119 wrote: Thu Jan 09, 2025 4:05 pm 3) checking this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EO3z94EzAOQ at 3:30, is it still possible to activate that view? If i choose GDMENU Theme and Style = Scroll, games are grouped by alphabetical letter, it isn't possible anymore like in the old version to sort games like you shows into the video at 3:30..
Yes, that video was made using the latest version of openMenu. Have you tried mimicking the exact settings shown at the video at 3m28s?

Style = Scroll
Theme = GDMENU
Sort = Default
Filter = All
Multidisc = Hide
legolas119 wrote: Thu Jan 09, 2025 4:05 pm 4) Last question: is it available a hot key to exti from a running game, in order to return into the OpenMenu main menu? Currently if i want to change a game, i always have to turn off/turn on the console...
The in-game reset button combination is the same as it is with gdMenu and all other Dreamcast ODE menu software: ABXY+Start. You press it once to return to the game's title screen, then again to return to openMenu game list.

Note that this button combination also works when you're using retail discs to reboot back to BIOS.
Great! everything works!!!

I only notice that running some games (i.e. Dolphin blue, Demolition Fist), it doesn't work ABXY + START, probably it is normal as they aren't official releases...am i right?

Well i have another question related to multi-disk games: currently i have Capcom vs SNK 2 that have 2 disc: one for the game and another one is the bonus disc:

https://i.postimg.cc/4x3c2gtG/Whats-App ... -56-55.jpg

I have the 2 disc in 2 folders:

https://i.postimg.cc/28kL3D0W/Cattura2.jpg

is it possible to group the 2 disc with one icon only as you showed in your video-tutorial using Shenmue? Which is the right way to save games with multiple discs? Please can you share an example?

thank you!

Correct.

The way discs are grouped together is by sharing the same ID, which you can set in the SD card management utility. Just note that when two or more discs share the same ID, they now automatically share the same artwork.

After that, just set the multidisc option to "Hide" in openMenu settings.

thanks.
Well, they already have the same ID:

But as i show into my post above, they have 2 different artwork... Is it correct that the 2 discs are in 2 different folders?

Yes, they belong in different folders. Are you sure you have the multidisc setting on "hide"?

Would it be useful to have a desktop version of openMenu for theme making and asset verification?

Yes very useful. Idk if it would make sense as something that runs on an emulator or part of a theme maker tool.

openMenu actually does run just fine on emulator (though I've only tested Demul). You just can't launch discs (of course).

Sorry to bother everyone but does anyone know how to save openmenu's settings on a VM2 with the latest firmware? Everytime I boot my Dreamcast or reset back from a game, openmenu goes back to the default in line description setting and NTSC theme meanwhile I would prefer the Grid3 or folders with the black theme.

You can if you switch the disc in demul then launch anything lol
