Is it possible to make a live service Dreamcast game with cross play on pc and mobile in 2021? Would a game engine have to be made that could process that? What is the size of dlc the Dreamcast would be able to download in updates?

DLC isn't too realistic for the Dreamcast. A VMU only has 128kb of storage. Cross-play should be very possible though. I remember someone did a hack a long time ago that let PC players get on the the Quake III Dreamcast servers

even with 2 vmu's the dreamcast couldn't handle DLC

Would dlc be possible if there was a 3rd party vmu that could hold 1TB?

I'm quite sure the Dreamcast can only recognize 128KB (240 blocks) per VMU. Also read/write speed is probably horrendously slow, would probably take days to write a TB worth of data through that interface

Fk VMU's $15 serial port reader unlimited DLC This was done on indie release before

The old snaggy puss not every one has one why not

load times are not long as people keep saying for DLC it be faster then anything 4x cdrom speed for god's sake

Fast when you only use it for loading small files main files on the gdrom be like under 10 secs ffs

Yeah, serial port reader would be the way to do DLC.

I am going to invest in the serial port reader
