Dreamcast/Saturn Rare Games Reprint 2020

So some collector guys bought a cd plant and re-pressed a bunch of rare games from the Sega Dreamcast/Saturn...From the post its looks like a 1-1 press with silkscreen and all https://www.instagram.com/p/CmALLdnSwza/

*UPDATE 1-1* The original post from OP has been taken down either by him or by Instagram...dang I wish I would of screenshoted his comments and had some more time to go threw his update comments in the post before he took it down...oh well at least I got his pictures and videos documented https://www.instagram.com/nhanphanhippo/ here is a link to the guys main page...fyi he's a hardcore collector I've been following for years and has a crazy video game collection

So from the comments on the guys instagram post they are using DDCD technology from Sony that game print discs up to 1.3GB in Space...my question is how are they getting the games to boot? Are they using a mil-cd boot hack or something else entirely?? Also the people selling the games for retail $49.99 and the owner of the instagram post says he is going to get his hands on a couple of copies to compare to regular retail games, he also says they have been selling the games on eBay and Facebook Marketplace

*UPDATE 2-2* Also before the page got taken down the OP said in the comment section, he was in the process of acquiring a game or two from the group making them to compare them to legit Dreamcast/Saturn copies...I will make another post down the line if and when this happens..stay tuned folks

"In late 2020, a group of French hoarders pitched the money together and bought an old assembly plant where Sony DADC used to press CDs back then. The bootlegs are pretty much undetectable (well you can't detect it because it was pressed on the same machines the original discs were made).

I was told they also bought the assembly plant for DVD this year so I'm excited to see more genuine bootlegs PS2/Xbox in the wild"

Those booklets look clearly fake to me, I think the guys are lying to you about DDCD for dreamcast games, Most likely standard cds.

This sounds so fake to me and here's why. So they bought a plant in 2020, it took them two years to start pressing games, and they make sega dreamcast and saturn games, why not make playstation and ps2 games, then before flooding the market with the games they leak their crime to a rando on instagram.

not really a crime but from the comments the guy says they are selling the games for retail prices...$49.99 USD...my question is are they being sold sealed in cellophane wrap and being passed off as "real games" or do they have some sort of variation to the cover/game disc art that can be identified as a repro... like those old game repros of Street Fighter Two for matching service...Also if they are being sold you can easily check the bottom for the Sega Dreamcast Data protection ring (not sure if that is the proper name) that all DC games have...also from the posts the guys are apparently selling on eBay and facebook market place

"not really a crime" it's clearly a crime, If you bought a factory or press to mass produce games that you don't own the rights to and then sell those fakes on the secondary market as new rare games. Yes, that is a crime.

This isn't the same as someone selling handmade repros on esty, or rom trading sites, This is mass production of bootlegs, this is organized crime type stuff.

well from the looks of it they are making these games so they can flood the market and lower the price of most of these games that are being gatekeept (by their prices) and no its not really a crime if you are selling to your friends/family/friends of a friend...plus its the world wide web the probably have some sort of setup that keeps the item from being traced back to them like a third party vendor they use...i know for sure those Street Fighter 2 For matching service games that were made by old game are sort of the same thing so you cant really blame people for wanting to give the die hard collectors something close to the real thing

Sounds scammy and fake. No pics of the data side? Both Dreamcast and Saturn have physical differences from normal pressed CDs.

i say its scummy if they sell the games sealed as "legit" copies knowing they are knockoffs, but if they are selling them sealed/open box listed as reproductions I see no harm/no foul in the matter...now time will tell if they get any heat from the copy write owners of these games get enough dust gets kicked up in the wrong direction...I would not want to face that sort of legal trouble for a few dollars

Well, tbf you’d have to be an idiot to buy a fake in this day & age: every disc ever printed has a serial number printed on the data side, a quick google will tell you exactly what you got

The most important question here is, do those copies work on unmodified consoles? I mean are these 1:1 copies?
