Well, HLDC was never the most stable game to begin with, so having mods that push the system to it's limit isn't always going to be a smooth experience.
However, R4amb0 has done a good job here optimizing his ports of mods to run better on the Dreamcast by making the textures PVR format, and breaking down larger levels into multiple sections. So he does a fair bit of optimization.
He has been working on HLDC mods for the past 10 years, and I have been beta testing them for him for about the past 8 years or so since sometime in 2010 after he finished The Hunger.
In the past 2 years I have also become a modder for the PC game Battlefield 2, and trying to get good with it. I will eventually move on to working with HLDC as I am really keen to make a mod that takes place in WW2 since WW2 shooters are pretty rare on DC. The Day of Defeat assets will come in handy there.
