I'm not sure I'm gonna do this, I'm a poolskater in real life and haven't touched a skate game since Skate Or Die & 720° back in the day

I skate bowls/pools/parks in real life too! As a skater, I can assure this game is every bit as good as the classic 720. THPS 2 is a decent game. Sure it's the furthest thing from realistic, LOL, but it can be fun. I grew up in the Philadelphia area and had many skate sessions at Love park and the FDR skatepark under the I95 bridge, and I can tell you that the game environments are pretty true to the actual skate spots/hangouts. I say, if even only to humor it, this game is at least worth a look.
And, finally, on to the topic: I'll probably be giving this a go!

There are some cool dudes on here

And I can assure you that I'm not one of them ! Lol. I did steal my sisters roller skates once and flew down our street........straight into A&E
I remember getting hold of this game in about 2000/2001 and totally loving it. I've no idea if it's realistic or not but I remember thinking it made you feel like a real skateboarding master in no time at all. And I loved the soundtrack, I thought it rocked !
I'm a bit reticent about playing it again just in case it hasn't aged well - I'd hate for it to disappoint me and spoil my memories of it.

Oh it's aged perfectly well! In fact I think the original Tony Hawk games are way better than the new ones. The series has really declined. I have Tony Hawk's Project 8 for the PS3 and I really don't care for it.

Just my luck. I can get combos in this game scoring 1,000,000+, but I don't have the Dreamcast version. Only N64. I suppose I'll be missing this comp.

Reminds me of the hoverboard from Back to the Future 2.
