The version leaked in 2003 is the 1672.

[Breaking news] Version from 20/04/2001 of Half Life - DC released on the internet by Laurent.
Why is it important?
This released version of number 1638 is older than the one we had before on the internet (1672). However it may contain the missing files to connect the game online and thus replicate the same in mods like Counter Strike-DC.
Also this is the first version of the game that we have in GDI, with no audio compression and no cuts to fit it in a common CDR.

So there is at least 1 difference here in one Blue Shift level between this older version and the later build we had previously.
Also, the wooden crates when destroyed show a disc with Sonic on it, instead of the Half-Life artwork. All in all a really cool curiosity.

really cool it got released and is a legitimate new build. hard to believe the guy got it at a yard sale for $5
i don't have CDs right now to inspect anything unfortunately

How do you know people here don't know that? The original release was never on a GDR, so you can forget that one. Only 2nd known one to my knowledge, the Katana build and this. This was the FIRST GDR we ever got our hands on. It is believed somebody at Gearbox took the latest build from a devkit and leaked the files on the net in 2003. It was never taken from a GDR so I don't know where you got your info about 3rd GDR.
