Is a Pi4b suitable for DreampPi?
So today i have started my journey in getting my dream cast online. I have to say, that despite watching PC’s guide vid several times now, im still a little lost. Does everything need to be fully connected to be operational? I have DreamPi 1.9 (i think) on disc, the Pi4 version too. And it seems to load in to a. Colourful screen and sits at that. Have i borked my device? Card seems fine. I have the Ethernet cable, decent router (it works fine playing PSO on insignia Xbox live and halo 2 as well.) I have emailed regarding the line vol stage inducer. And have sourced a modem. Anyways i have waffled. Any replies appreciated, even one calling me a silly idiot for mucking up so bad with impatience…..

Yes, Raspberry Pi 4B is acceptable and I use it regularly.
Before we go further, the three main components of the standard Dreampi setup are requirements. You will not be able to use browsers, let alone connect to games, without the hardware. These are the raspberry pi , linux-compatible modem , and line-voltage inducer.
Here's how I would go about troubleshooting while you assemble or try to acquire the LVI.

Here's how I would go about troubleshooting while you assemble or try to acquire the LVI.
- The raspberry pi shows red for power, and green for storage access. Red should be on when plugged in. Green should not be solid. Solid-green light indicates it cannot boot from SD card.
- Re-flash the SD card if you suspect a software issue. Double-check you have the Dreampi 1.9DLE image for Rpi4
- With a wired connection, the raspberry pi should be on the network. Access your router's admin controls. Router firmware varies by brand so it's up to you to determine how to access and view. Try to find it on connected devices. Take note of the first 3 numbers of the IP address.
- You won't be able to connect without the LVI, but you can prepare. Try to determine DMZ control in your router. This IP address is the first 3 numbers from the previous step, and the fourth needs to be .98 . (example XXX.XXX.XXX.98 )

Re: Is a Pi4b suitable for DreampPi?
Thanks OatBob, I do have another question though, which I neglected to ask in the first instance. Does the Pi4 need Pi OS on it before anything goes ahead? Cheers again for any answers mate. I'm not home at the moment and wont be able to advise on modem brand it is however a home broadband one from 3 mobile network and runs off their mobile broadband network.
As entioned previously Insignia works fine with it (although I am acutely aware that is a very different beast.) according to my 3 app it is a 4G Hub MF286D in white (as if that makes any difference.)
