Saturn boot animation remake

Post#1 » Sun Oct 22, 2017 8:03 pm

For some reason, I've grown a lot of interest in the Saturn. Maybe it's because I already know and have experienced every other Sega system--the Saturn is a mystery to a lot of people, and I find that very interesting. It was where Sega had trouble bringing their franchises into 3D with pressure from Sony and Nintendo, as well as it being home to some great hidden gems, but also suffered from Stolar's strict game policies and some terrible decisions made by Sega due to pressure from the competition, again.

Also, Segata Sanshiro is the best mascot ever. :lol:

Anyways, to pay respect to the Saturn, which is well-deserving of it, I made a widescreen remake of the Japanese Saturn boot animation in BluffTitler, which is the program I use for all of the logos I make. Not much to say about it really, except that it's 60FPS.

And if you want, I can do the US/EU boot up as well. :)

I've always liked the Saturn's start up animation!

@itsthinkingstill: Nope; I like the US/EU one a bit better. Maybe because it's not trying to be the PS1 startup.

@Xiden: Thanks! :D

If you'd like to know how it was done, I had taken an image of the Saturn logo, then turned the brightness up all the way to make it white. I used the Explosion sliders in BluffTitler to create the pieces, then used the third Rotation slider to rotate them and simulate more movement. Then I used my original copy of the Saturn logo and made it appear on the gray steel screen at the end. And finally, the camera rotates around 180 degrees while the pieces are flying. :)

That would be a really cool intro for itsthinkingstill's Saturn youtube videos :D
