@The-Amazing-Mr_V Yes if you can get through without it crashing you can play the mods til the end. I suggest mods such as They Hunger, Paranoia, U.S.S. Darkstar and the port of the PC exclusive Half-Life engine game Gunman Chronicles that R4mbo did.

You can find these all over at TIZ. I uploaded the first 2 mods, and R4mbo did the other 2, but he was the one who ported them all.

DR TEAMCAST wrote:@rambo, i put this together awhile ago, its a collection of all the HLDC modding tools and scripts put together by you guys way back in the day in one package. this way you dont have to hunt everythimg down again

http://dreampipe.net/hldc/sdk/hldc-sdk-0.0.7.zip

i think it also contains the alpha version of a team fortress 2 GoldSRC demake, with textures and the one map ported to dreamcast, although youd need the dlls to actually use the characters and weapons and stuff
Good work, i can help you on testing the new compiled wince dlls if you want.
I really hope that you or someone else have sucess on this.
It could boost the dc homebrew scene.

@rambo here's the source code for the DLLs ported to WCE. only the "OldSourceCode" branch works but should compile out of the box with the WCE 2.12 SDK, you're welcome to try testing, though i did a shitload. the "SourceCode" branch still needs to be ported which is the entire full SDK with all of the needed exports (see below)
https://github.com/FaucetDC/hldc-sdk

If i compile the working source code branch in x86 (for half-lfie pc) the game rejects it and crashes due to missing DLL exports. for a real conclusive test, you'd need a properly ported DLL

oh and to port it, it was just a few basic functions, i didn't code the fixes, the dreamshell dev megavolt85 on assemblergames helped me shut the compiler up. the functions were just the "Time" api which was easily replaced along with basic math functions. not too much had to be rewritten. it's probably the same thing with the full source code branch but more of them

when Moi ported the DLL a few years ago, he only did "hl.dll", but what we need more is "client.dll" which if i understand correctly is the DLL that contains all the new functions that the mod adds as well as loading the "hl.dll". so if someone reads this and wants to try porting the HLSDK fully to dreamcast, you need to start with client.dll, not hl.dll. although having both would be optimal

Yes please finish 007! I have a dumb question. Is it possible to port Half Life 2 using the Half Life 1 engine? I know it was made before for other platforms.

I am currently playing Half-Life for the first time, and loving it! A post on here mentioned Half Life 2 for the Dreamcast...That would be rad!! So are They Hunger and Paranoia fan releases, would they connect to the main story at all?
THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT IS A LIE.

If you want it, come and take it from me. If you think you can, you still dont know me.

@BloodBrother No, They Hunger and Paranoia are total conversion mods, that take place in 2 different universes. They Hunger has a big emphasis on zombies, in a 1960's time period somewhere in rural USA.

Paranoia take place in present day Russia and is more along the settings of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games on PC, although it has really nothing to do with that game, it just feels very similar due to the setting. It is also a supernatural mod where you eventually have to deal with Zombies and such, but you also have to deal with Chechen rebels during early parts of the game I believe. Been a while since I played it so I kind of forget.

These are effectively brand new stand alone games for the Dreamcast. They feel like retail games almost, as they are using a much more powerful and modern game engine than say the other homebrew FPS ports.
