Half-Life load times VS 8th gen games

just something i was thinking about, everyone has always said the load times for half-life are slow, but now that i can play 8th gen games i can see a lot of games have load times much slower and nobody seems to mind

Well, people tolerate all kinds of crap in gaming these days:
-Preorders
-Release now, fix later (if ever) approach to games
-Lot of AAA games have literally a dozen different versions where you need a spreadsheet to know which version contains whats
-Crap ton of microtransactions
-Lootboxes
-Games as a service
-Always online requirements
-Some physical games are literally an empty box with a cardboard in it with a download code on it

So it actually makes me nostalgic when long loading times was the biggest sin a game could commit.

Well, on GDEMU I can load Soldier of Fortune levels, in around 10 seconds. That is a huge change as it is notoriously the longest loading DC game.
