My Dreamcast keeps screaming at me if I don't insert a disc

Hi everyone,
I have a really weird issue with my Dreamcast where it makes a weird noise if you close the disc tray without a disc inserted (see video). My Dreamcast is working fine and it didn't make this noise when I first got it a few years ago.
Does anybody know what might cause this to happen?

Good news, you put a disc in and it works.
Bad news, I never experienced anything like that.

Recommendation, always have a disc in before you close the lid.

Had something similar with my first dc, but unfortunately never figured out what it was...

Almost sounds like the laser is trying to move to far to check for a disc when empty. Maybe lubing the rails/drive gears???
