Re: questions about the tosec rip
I asked these same questions @ SegaXtreme PseudoSaturn
More of a serial thing on the discs like a print run not saying there were fixes

But I'm planning to do so soon.
Re: questions about the tosec rip
It's the same with Soul Calibur. There's a Soul Calibur 1S and a Soul Calibur 4S too. Like mista said, it's most likely an updated, bug fixed version.

Re: questions about the tosec rip
My understanding is that those are the ringcode from the GD-ROM however it does not indicate a different version of the game, just slight differences in data in production so don't expect a newer more updated version of the game just because of a different ringcode. The game version is indicated seperately in the filename.
For example the following should be exactly the same game version but the data may vary slightly between the two production batches, so 6S and 10S are both in the collection for archival purposes only, the game experience should be the same:
Crazy Taxi v1.004 (1999)(Sega)(US)[!][6S]
Crazy Taxi v1.004 (1999)(Sega)(US)[!][10S]
However the following would indicate a different updated version of the game as the version number changes:
Mortal Kombat Gold v1.001 (1999)(Midway)(US)[!]
Mortal Kombat Gold v1.006 (1999)(Midway)(US)[!][6S]

Re: questions about the tosec rip
Yes the notorious Midway Dreamcast launches. The fixed print run will have Hot New! on the manual and the discs will be a gold tint

Re: questions about the tosec rip
also with PS2... the GREATEST HITS collection for 19.99 with the red "Greatest Hits" along the top... my PS2 Rom pack has multiple versions of roms, and you can always tell waht games had a "Greatest Hits" version,m because they most of the time updated the games to fix things like in GTA san andres... they fixed the fuel depletion in an airplane mission, and a few other lil tweaks, based on the years of people bitching about thoes.
